Ahlstrom - "Future Talent"
Ahlstrom lives its values in many ways. One example is their focus and attention to future leaders. JUMP is a leadership development program for future leaders and was first held in Noormarkku 25 years ago.
Ahlstrom partnered with Pertec to create a "Future Talent" leadership program that included 360 feedback, coaching, interactive workshops, innovative learning experiences, online supporting Self-Leader tool, mentoring and post-experience virtual team coaching. The program was developed and facilitated by a team of Pertec´s international experts*. The face-to-face elements were delivered in September 2011 when 15 future Alhstrom leaders representing over half dozen nations gathered in Noormarkku, Finland. They shared an intensive one-week developing their leadership competencies, at a very special location that highlighed the roots of the company, back to the late 1870s, and the future being crafted today.
The feedback from the participants and the management was very positive. Overall, the program received 4.07/5.00. Participants expressed thoughts such as "I will reach out for new opportunities and try to get out of my comfort zone to bring the best of my capabilities." Ahlstrom´s investment in their future leaders is seen as a very important part of leadership development and many current Leaders have participated similar programs early in their career in Ahlstrom.
In the picture, JUMP participants, Jan Lång (CEO), Paula Aarnio (EVP HR and Sustainability), Tarja Takko (VP Management Development) and Lynne Anderson (HR officer) prepare for a very meaningful experience of this program: an inspirational conversation on current topics.
" The keenness and enthusiasm of the future leaders was really good. The focus on the competencies and the skills that are required from future leaders with the opportunity to network with the diverse group of colleagues and to grow in a positive and supportive environment made this indeed a unique and supportive learning experience." Tarja Takko, VP Management Development.
